Sometimes weddings don’t always go as you planned and even paradise contains some unwanted bacteria! The bride at this beach destination wedding in The Bahamas had unfortunately caught some sort of stomach bug and wasn’t feeling 100 per cent on her wedding day. She was a trooper though, and powered through to the reception to make her destination wedding at The Cove a memorable one. Luckily she has some wonderful moments captured that focus on the love and happiness of the day instead of the nausea she was experiencing. Here’s her response after seeing the results,
“Hi Erik, I’ve been meaning to write to you since you sent this link but have been so busy since returning to the real world!
Thank you so much for the beautiful photos- they came out great! The unanimous feedback from those who have seen them was not only are your pictures gorgeous, but you did a great job making me not look on my death bed! lol. “
Location: Eleuthera, The Bahamas
Venue: The Cove Eleuthera
Wedding planning: Boy Meets Girl Weddings
A hidden gem in The Bahamas on the island of Eleuthera, The Cove resort is an ideal spot for a destination wedding. The seclusion and natural beauty of Eleuthera has even caught the attention of some international celebrities. Rumor has it that Justin Bieber rented the whole place out for his 21st birthday. Lenny Kravitz lives just the road and has can sometimes be spotted riding his bike to nearby Gregory Town.
The natural promontory between the two coves/beaches at the resort serves as a perfect spot for the ceremony. The wedding was brilliantly planned and styled by Mish and her crew at Boy Meets Girl Weddings.
Caitlin and Matt hosted a bonfire welcome party on Friday night and had me come to photograph that event as well. It’s nice to getting to know some of the people beforehand so come wedding day they are already comfortable with me and my camera clicking away. People often look at me funny at first and are surprised I am not constantly posing them and asking them to “say, cheese!” Once they realize that I am capturing real, candid moments they relax and understand my method.
Here’s what Caitlin had to say before she had even seen any of the photos,
“Erik was a true professional from beginning to end. He responded promptly to all emails and reported for our events exactly as planned. We are eager to see the photos he took, but we would recommend him wholeheartedly on dependability alone.”

Wedding Day
The beautiful estate Lush Life was the location for this beach wedding on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. It is located near Governors Harbour on French Leave Beach. This couple had a great crowd and even included a Junkanoo rush and fireworks. Planned and designed by Boy Meets Girl Weddings. Live music by The High Rock Band. Here are some highlights from the day.
This bride decided I was the photographer for her after she saw my travel photos from Nepal where her family is from. A sense of adventure and authenticity are two things I strive to convey in destination wedding photography. This couple was looking for just that for their beautiful destination wedding at The Cove at Atlantis Paradise resort in The Bahamas. The ceremony and reception were held at the Ocean’s Edge pavilion. Congratulations to the couple!
It was a lot of fun preparing and photographing this destination wedding proposal for a fellow professional photographer in Nassau, The Bahamas. The couple arrived on a cruise and rented a vehicle to explore the island. I went to Jaws Beach ahead of time and planted a “Message in a Bottle” a the end of the pier for her to discover, all the while posing as a sunbather to capture the moment. We went around Clifton Heritage Park afterward to capture a few more shots. Congratulations!
I love working with couples who have a good sense of adventure. It opens the door for me to try something new and different. After a rainy and windy ceremony huddled under a beach cabana, it hadn’t turned out to be the beach wedding this Austrian couple had envisioned. Luckily, the weather took a turn for the better after the ceremony (including a rainbow!). After we raced across the island to capture some amazing sunset shots.
The following day we went all the way down to Lighthouse Point to take some more photos in better weather conditions. We ended the day at Twin Sisters Beach north of Governors Harbour, squeezing in some final shots before the rain returned.
Here are some of my favorites from a recent wedding in Vermont. Hildene – The Lincoln Family Home is a classy and elegant venue for a hosting a wedding in New England.
History runs through this beautiful mansion just outside Manchester, Vermont. Nestled above the mountain valley, Hildene – The Lincoln Family Home offers sweeping views of the surrounding Green Mountains. I love to photograph weddings here! It’s historic architecture, manicured gardens and panoramic overlook offer a setting for an outdoor wedding ceremony that’s hard to beat.
The wedding party and guests were lodged at the nearby Hill Farm Inn, itself a great wedding venue, which is perfect for large groups coming in from out of town. It offers a perfect blend of luxury and rusticity. I definitely want to come back here again.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
