Erik was born and raised in the small town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He found his love of photography at the age of 15, under his high school instructor, Warner Halverson, learning composition and dark-room techniques in the black and white format. He went on to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire studying Spanish for Business and Anthropology. After he graduated in 2003, he moved to Alaska to work for the summer where his interest in photography was re-kindled. The following winter, he moved to Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula to work as a volunteer. He continued on that same migration route from Alaska in the summer to Latin America in the winter the following 5 years. After that he lived in Sicily for 9 months where he created his first book, Images of Sicily. He now resides in Arlington, Massachusetts and works as a freelance photographer and travel expert. For him photography is “an ever-evolving pursuit. There’s always more to learn. There’s always room to improve. It really helps me understand and appreciate the subtleties of life.”
